How To Adopt

The simple adoption process at the Columbia Animal Shelter leaves only one tough step—choosing which animal to adopt.

Here are the steps:

1. Give thought to the type of pet you would like and the kind best suited to your lifestyle and preferences. Review the helpful information in this site:

2. Visit the Columbia Animal Shelter and select a pet. If you do not find the animal you want on your first visit, just return in a few days. New animals are placed in the adoption center at least four days a week. An animal placed in the adoption center remains there until it finds a permanent home. Click here for the shelter location.

3. Complete the adoption form.

4. Pay the adoption fee. ($68-73)

5. Take your new pet home.
