Our Mission

The Animal Mission is committed to the following goals:

To support all spay/neuter programs in order to reduce pet overpopulation. This includes funding of free and reduced-cost spay/neuters each year for residents of Richland County.
To promote adoptions of shelter-bound pets.
To improve the condition and outcome of pets consigned to the Columbia Animal Shelter.
To reduce the number of pets consigned to the Columbia shelter by improving the quality of pet adoptions through increased awareness of long-term issues relevant to pet selection.
To support all spay/neuter programs and humane education in the Midlands in order to reduce pet overpopulation. This includes giving away $20,000 worth of free and reduced-cost spay/neuters each year.
To promote responsible pet stewardship in our area.

The Mission and its board members are committed to public advocacy, community events and public activities that support these goals.
